Ashtanga

Ashtanga vinyasa yoga is a style of yoga from the Mysore region of India by K. Pattabhi Jois. Ashtanga is a very regimented practice: each class follows the same pattern every time, beginning with surya namaskars (sun salutations) then moving into standing poses, transitioning to seated poses, and ending with inversions.

Ashtanga has multiple series, as well. The primary series is where each yogi begins. Once they have mastered the primary series, they begin working on the secondary series and so on, all the way up to sixth series. Ashtanga is traditionally practiced individually, with each practitioner moving through the sequence at their own pace.
