Vinyasa

Vinyasa yoga, sometimes called "flow" yoga or Vinyasa flow yoga, is a moving meditation. Each pose, or short series of poses, is linked together in a sequence from one pose to the next. Vinyasa yoga may be quite quick and move rapidly, tying one breath to one movement, or it may be slower and more deliberate, encouraging proper alignment within each pose as the practitioner savors the position through multiple breaths.

These classes often include ample opportunities to complete the familiar motion from chaturanga through an upward-facing dog or cobra pose, ending in a downward-facing dog before moving into the next postures. Vinyasa flows are recommended for anyone who's hoping to build strength and mobility. In many classes, variations are given to guide a wide variety of practitioners through the asanas, from those just starting out to those with years of practice behind them.
