This class will enable participants to perform physical assessments in the context of a yoga therapy session using the Five UPAs. Participants will learn how to connect the UPAs to orthopedic descriptions of body position and movement (for example, excessive spinal extension as a form of excessive Organic Energy). By applying these observational techniques to their students, participants will be able to identify relative imbalances within the Principles which will then help determine the most useful and applicable sequence of asana for a particular session. While this is intended for those who work in small groups or one-on-one in a therapeutic context, these assessment techniques can carry over into a larger group context. Please note that this is a lecture type class and will not involve a full asana practice.
