Twisting is not only a great way to cleanse the body, but when done on a deeper level, it becomes a mental and spiritual cleanse. To twist properly, with safety to the spine, it must come from the center. So, we start by awakening the center on a deep level to access that potency throughout the practice. Class begins with abdominal work and the cleansing techniques of Uddiyana Bandha and Agni Sara to awaken the center. The breathing pattern of Samana Vayu is introduced to go even deeper. Using that heat, we'll move into twists from many perspectives to wring out our organs—and our thought patterns. When we can change the way that we breathe, we can change the patterns in the mind. This leads to space for new, positive habits. The result is a calmer, more stable energy and a centered spine. Have a block and strap available.
