Pigeon Pose is a wonderful basic hip opener that is accessible to many levels of practitioners. Done with accurate alignment, it helps free the low back, clear sciatica or hip tightness and prepare us for deeper hip openers. However, I often see people collapsing into the joints in this pose—something that puts your knees at risk.
