Slowing down the flow is a practice that encourages using steady breathing, smooth transitions, and holding postures. It's a smooth linking of unhurried breath with movement, intensified by mindfully holding postures. It’s a practice that builds strength, and each movement is initiated by slow controlled inhales and exhales. Expect leg, hip, back, and shoulder openings with longer holds to gain stretch and increased mobility. Find true balance in this moving meditation. Modifications are offered to allow for all skill levels.

Lydia Martin

Hello! My name is Lydia Martin. I am a Yoga Alliance certified yoga instructor with over 2000 hours of studio, workshop, gym, and virtual teaching experience. My yoga journey began in 2013 while I was looking for a low impact exercise to help my aches and pains from years of dancing. I joined my local yoga studio and fell in love. I completed my 200 hour training in 2016 and began teaching straight away. Since then, I have taught yoga classes and led workshops and trainings throughout the Rock Hill SC, Fort Mill SC, and Charlotte NC areas. I currently teach live classes at Carolina Yoga in Fort Mill, online classes through yogavibes.com and through Zoom, and you can find me on the yoga schedule at the US National Whitewater Center and Flow Fest. My specialty is a slow power flow that involves all parts of the body and breath, but I also have a special place in my heart for restorative yoga and deep stretch using all the props! What I teach: Restorative Yoga, Deep Stretch, Power Yoga, Hot Power Yoga, Slow Flow, Gentle Yoga, All Levels Flow, Meditation What I love: A hot sweaty power vinyasa class, restorative classes with more than one bolster, my kitties, my yoga mats, all 6 pillows on my bed, yoga teachers who give good verbal cues, peanut butter cups, lavender essential oil, and everyone who shows up to practice with me.
