Holiday survival tips inspired by the wisdom of Ayurveda

The holiday season is upon us! While there’s lots of joy and excitement this time of year, the travel, holiday parties and late nights can be hard on our bodies. Fortunately, we can apply wisdom from Ayurveda to help maintain balance so we can roll into 2020 feeling healthy, vibrant and refreshed!

It’s important to remember none of the below strategies need to be done perfectly. It’s perfectly ok to allow yourself to enjoy this time of year, try for the 80/20 rule. Read on for our holiday survival tips:

😴 Stick to a bedtime routine and keep it before 10pm. According to Ayurveda 10pm-ish in when the body goes into deep digest & detox mode, but you need to be asleep to reap the benefits. So, for optimal energy throughout the season, get some shut-eye before the second-wind hits.

💦 Make warm water your friend. Winter weather can be very cold, windy and dehydrating. Air travel is extremely dehydrating. That’s a double whammy on your hydration levels! Sip on warm water throughout the day to keep you hydrated and warm (we suggest skipping iced water while the weather’s cold).

🌞 Soak in the sun, regardless of the outside temps! If you’re changing time zones with holiday travel, spending time in the midday sun will help your body attune to the circadian rhythms of your new time zone.

🤸‍♂️Move your body! Even though you may feel exhausted post travel, gentle movement will do your body good. Here’s a few of our favorite post travel classes to keep your lymph moving and loosen stiff joints:
