Finding Sattva

Finding…. what?

Sattva. One of the three Ayurvedic states of mind.  Many you’ve heard about them. Maybe you haven’t. If you haven’t, let’s break it down simply ..

There are 3.

  1. Sattva: The power of harmony, balance, light and intelligence; higher spiritual potential.
Positive mental and emotional states like joy and intelligence are associated with sattva.
  2. Rajas: The power of energy, action, change and movement. Balanced rajas gets things done! Excess rajas leads to over stimulation and burn out.
  3. Tamas: The power of darkness, inertia, form and materiality. Balanced rajas allows for grounding and relaxation. Excess tamas leads to cloudy reasoning, dark emotions (greed, anger, depression etc.), and/or laziness.

Each of us has a combo of these 3 energies, one of which is dominant. Each of us is immersed in an environment comprised of these 3 energies. The balance between rajas and tamas is sattva, the peaceful middle ground. Finding a state of sattva will leave you feeling  radiant, vibrant, calm, peaceful, grounded, and steady!
