Developing core strength is the focus of Pilates exercises. The core muscles include the deep internal muscles of the abdomen and back body. Pilates can help you overcome back pain and strengthen and tone all of your muscles. Pilates was developed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s. The practice can be done on either a mat or the floor, or using Pilates specific equipment.
