This class starts off with a contemplative meditation and core floor practice before moving into a steady standing flow involving some surfing-inspired movement. Attention is focused on using sensations in the body as a doorway into deeper presence and moving through difficulty or uncomfortable situations. Hala Khouri, M.A., SEP, E-RYT has been teaching yoga and the movement arts for over 20 years. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from Columbia University and her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, where she is also currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Depth Psychology with a specialization in Community, Liberation, & Ecopsychology. She is trained in Somatic Experiencing, a body-based psychotherapy that addresses trauma and its symptoms.
