What does it mean to be centered in our hearts? And how can our physical practice help support us in staying in that space? We will explore these questions through deep shoulder opening. We look at the alignment of the shoulders and work to refine this alignment as we move through sun salutations, handstand, deep shoulder openers, standing poses, and backbends. Baby Kapinjalasana, full Pigeon and full Dancer Pose are our "for fun" poses of the class. Variations are offered for all advanced poses. Through the opening of the physical space around the anahata chakra (the energetic heart center) may we be supported in awakening to the vibration of our hearts. Have a strap available.

I loved the focus on the heart. As a swimmer, I found the shoulder opening exercises effective and there were some new poses I hadn't tried before! The instructor's tone was calming and the personal insights were helpful and thoughtful. Thanks, I feel great! (Posted on 10/15/2014)
