Backbend and Dropping Back Tutorial with Joan Hyman

Yoga Class Description

Discover the freedom of backbending and unlock the secrets to these deep poses, so you feel grounded and exhilarated. In this online yoga video, Joan Hyman teaches Ustrasana and Urdhva Dhanurasana at the wall with the use of blocks and straps to help stabilize the legs to protect the lower back in these poses. She discusses how not to backbend from the low back area and how to use the legs to bring it up into the thoracic spine. She breaks down what the shoulders are trying to do and how to plug the arms into the shoulder sockets for safe backbending that involves the shoulder blades. Then move into dropping back at the wall and then in the middle of the room. Very informative and great for teacher trainers and serious students!
