Strength, Stability, and Ease in your Backbends with Stacey Rosenberg

Yoga Class Description

This online yoga class will help you strengthen all the muscles that support your spine. If you have low back pain and/or instability, there are several exercises here to learn and practice, which create support and stability in your body and your life. Stacey will teach you how to use all sides of your legs and hips effectively, strengthen you core, lengthen your psoas, and access your upper back. You will be challenged to work hard, but the payoff is that this work is the secret to making backbends easy. In the end, you will fly up to Urdhva Dhanurasana (full wheel pose) with less effort than ever before! Have two blocks and a blanket available for this class that was filmed live at Yoga Tree Hayes. (65 mins.)

Level: 2 Focus: Alignment-Based Flow Yoga, Backbending Yoga

I'm determined to make 2015 the year I finally nail urdhva dhanurasana ... I have a generally strong practice but because of hypermobility in my lumbar spine this pose has always eluded me. I'm so happy I found this class (and Stacey is one of my favorite teachers) - the deep core work really made me feel stable and protected in the backbends, and pushing up into full wheel was definitely easier! I'm adding this one into heavy rotation in my home practice. Thanks Stacey!

I'm so happy I found this class (and Stacey is one of my favorite teachers) - all the deep core work made me feel super-safe and protected in my backbend, and really did make it easier to go up into full wheel (though I'm not where I want to be just yet ... I'll check back in at the end of the year!) Genius sequencing, too. I definitely plan to add this one to my regular home practice rotation. Thanks Stacey!

Enjoyed Backbends very much. The prep with each muscle used really made a difference for me. In the past I had made the error of using my lower back and buttocks...not very efficient. I loved how I felt and was happy with my backbend. I like the option to work to rising my legs one at a time. Always learning...that makes me happy. Thanks.
