Yoga Basics: Focus on Pranayama and Meditation with Darcy Lyon

Yoga Class Description

The more introversive practices of pranayama and meditation can seem less accessible than the physical poses many of us are used to - as they are more subtle. However, many of the skills you develop in asana practice will serve you as you move into this deepening. Fundamentally, these more penetrating practices help us to connect with what Carl Jung would call the Self and in yoga we speak of as essential nature or presence. This hour-long online yoga practice combines gentle asana with a consistent focus on the breath and then a final period of mindfulness. Great for anyone would like to bring these practices into their yoga routine. Filmed live at Yoga Tree Hayes. Have two blocks, a blanket and strap available. (58 mins.)

Level: 1 Style: Meditation + Pranayama Yoga Focus: Slow Flow Yoga, Beginner Yoga

A really nice class if you're seeking to reconnect with your breath. The loud noises through out are incredibly distrating, but as someone else mentioned - they're a great way practice mindfulness when your attention is being pulled in more than one direction..!

This class is a great introduction to pranayama, with some nice preparatory work beforehand to open up the body and allow for more fluidity to the breath. There are some loud noises in the background, but they don't last the whole class and are a good opportunity to practice some mindfulness in the midst of somewhat annoying surrounding circumstances.
