Transforming the Body and Mind: Yoga Basics Asymmetrical Backbends with Darcy Lyon

Yoga Class Description

Backbends open the lungs, expand the chest, free the spine and support new patterns of lightness and fullness within. Asymmetrical backbends are particularly informative as they reveal imbalances we may not know we have in our physical structure. In this foundational online yoga class filmed live at Yoga Tree, we'll balance steadiness with expansion moving towards progressive asymmetrical backbends. Along the way we'll use the concept of 'samskaras' - patterns we'd like to imprint. Have two blocks, a blanket and strap available. (57 mins.)

Level: 1 Focus: Backbending Yoga, Alignment-Based Flow Yoga

Even though asymmetrical backbends are very difficult for me, the class is well-sequenced and ultimately allowed me to work into some challenging poses that I tend to avoid. Darcy's discussion of samskaras is very accessible and beautifully woven throughout the class. Highly recommended.
