Muscle Energy: The Second Universal Principle of Alignment - Anusara Yoga Online

Experience a mixed-level, full spectrum of poses online Anusara yoga practice that focuses on connecting to and practicing muscle energy. The second of the Universal Principles of Alignment comes after you open to grace creating space, softening and settling into a sturdy foundation. Muscle energy is when you hug in, creating a lot of power in the poses, cultivating and calling on the energy you already have deep inside you. Sarah Faircloth, certified Anusara yoga teacher, provides excellent alignment cues throughout. The practice includes a lot of standing poses, including crescent pose, chair pose, standing splits, tree pose, standing big toe balance, as well as crow and kicking up to handstand. Build up to the pinnacle pose: eka pada koundinyasana II before enjoying a restorative twist in parivrtta balasana. (60 mins.)
